St. Patrick’s Day 2016 will be celebrated on 17th March in Ireland, United States and by Christians all over the world. Although St. Patrick’s Day was originally a religious holiday celebrating Ireland’s primary patron saint, it’s become more widely celebrated by people around the world, regardless of ethnic background and religion.In Metro Detroit we have a few events taking place. The 15th annual Oakland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Royal oak, hosted by the Norman O’Brien Division of the Ancient Order of Hiberians, will feature floats put together by local Irish clans, step dancers and bagpipers, as they show off what it means to be Irish. The Oakland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps-off at Royal Oak Middle School and heads south on Washington to Seventh Street. Read more
The St. Patrick’s Parade Corktown Races
The St. Patrick’s Parade Corktown Races have become one of the largest 5km races in Michigan. The event has seen steady growth to over 8000 participants. In addition to attracting more people to the parade, the race is a vehicle for raising funds for the Saint Patrick’s Senior Center and the KPMG Family for Literacy. Read more
